Corruption Saved Me Today, Buhari Should Stop Fighting It - Elego Stephen

By: Elego Stephen

It was this morning when I was partially asleep. I heard “bang! bang! bang! who dey?” On hearing that, I quickly went outside. Behold, I saw NEPA agents taking photo of illegal electricity connections I did last night.
I had no false words to say because they caught it red-handed and they had evidence. After that, they cut-off the wires connecting an electric pole to my house, rolled it together and carted away.
I followed them, not minding the sleeping clothes I wore. I met their OGA and he told me I will be able to clear myself and retrieve the wires when I pay the sum of N50,000 in their head office.
I started begging the man to help me and give me back the wires, but he turned deaf-ears. So I ran back home and collected N3000. I met him again, he still said no. So I showed him the money, and he said ” you cannot bribe me with money. It is wrong! do I look like a child” I continued begging him, and he said the money was too small I should make it 10,000.
After several negotiations, he agreed I should pay N5000. So I gave him the money and retrieved my wires.
I just thank God the man was not a patriotic Nigerian!!!
